Prof. Rachel M. Brewster, PhD
Microinjection Advisor
PROF. RACHEL M. BREWSTER, PHD is a developmental biologist with over twenty years of expertise in microinjection techniques, particularly in zebrafish. She earned her BS from the University of Geneva in 1989 and her PhD from the University of Michigan in 1996. Rachel completed postdoctoral work in developmental neurobiology at NYU's Skirball Institute and the Carnegie Institution for Science.
Her research focuses on brain development and metabolism, and she is dedicated to teaching Developmental Biology and promoting diversity in science. Rachel is the G-RISE Director at UMBC and chairs the Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission, where she oversees compliance with state law for stem cell research funding. Passionate about hands-on learning, she delights in imaging zebrafish embryos and exploring their developmental processes.
